I only wanna give it to you / And I want you more than a new pair of shoes

For one of my birthdays when I was a little girl, my Aunty Josephine (Actually… we call her Aunty Siping; Filipinos can get creative when it comes to name-for-short monikers) gifted me a 7-day ring. What does the 7-day ring symbolize? Some say the 7-day ring offers protection for each day of the week. Some say it is to bring you luck every day. Others would tell you that it is a reminder that the person who gave you the ring loves you every day of the week. I think they are all sweet meanings.

The ring given to me by my aunt was a stack of very delicate rings, each gauged no thicker than your typical dental floss. Maybe smaller. I don’t know what ever happened to that ring; I wish I still had it.  It would not fit my fingers anymore.  Perhaps I would wear it as a pendant, close to my heart, reminding me that although I took very little care of my belongings as a child, I was loved nonetheless.
